SUPERANNUATION
Superannuation, or ‘super’, is a percentage of your salary or wages, set aside by your employer for you to live on when you retire. Your employer pays ‘contributions’ into a super account on your behalf. This is called the ‘super guarantee’. This is generally paid on top of your salary rather than deducted from it.
Superannuation is paid in line with current Australian Taxation Superannuation legislation and the superannuation guarantee is increasing yearly until 2025 when it will reach 12%. This applies whether you work casual, part-time, or full-time hours, and if you are a temporary resident.
Generally, we must pay super for you if you are:
• 18 years old or over, and are paid $450 or more (before tax) in a calendar month
• under 18 years old, being paid $450 or more (before tax) in a calendar month and work more than 30 hours in a week.
When commencing with a new employer, you must nominate a super fund. OEG is unable to offer advice on which super fund to elect, however, you can find plenty of information via the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) website. If are unsure of your current supper account details, your MyGov account should give you access to this information.
You can also make additional super contributions in the form of ‘salary sacrifice’ with your before-tax income or after-tax income. Please be advised, there are annual limits or ‘caps’ on the amount you can contribute to your super without having to pay additional tax. Superannuation is a retirement fund that employers are liable to pay into.
An additional 10.5% of your salary is paid into a nominated Superannuation fund, and as an
international, when you depart Australia, you are able to close and withdraw the money. So,
consider it a Savings account!
Here are 2 websites to have a look at for further information:
https://www.ato.gov.au/individuals/super/getting-your-super-started/
https://moneysmart.gov.au/how-super-works/choosing-a-super-fund
There are Superannuation funds that allow you to open a Super account online and from
overseas. Google is your friend!
When you set up a Superannuation fund account, you will be issued a member number.

Rosters are sent out a school term in advance, however these are subject to change Rosters are sent out via email in an Microsoft excel spreadsheet and are uploaded through Zambion (HR Platform).
For our Field Team you will be able to see your rosters 2 weeks in advance, client and professional development programs can run across weekends, so it is important to book your leave in advance, especially if you have plans for a particular weekend. This can be applied for through Zambion and in consultation with your team leader.
TIMESHEETS
Time sheeting serves numerous key functions for an organisation. The two functions we will touch on here are;
1. Workflow. If our rosters determine our projected working hours, it is our timesheets which determine our actual working hours. Accurate time sheeting ensures that we maintain your sustainable workflow.
2. Remuneration (Pay). Rosters do not determine what you receive in your bank account in each fortnight. Your Timesheets do. These need to be submitted by you and approved by you Team Leader on the second week of each pay period. Your timesheets are laid out in pay period so you can easily determine which Friday you are looking for.
