Year 8 Adventure Learning

Iona Presentation College

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The Year 8 Adventure Learning camp is a fun filled 3 days that will introduce and prepare the students for their Year 9 camp. Our OEG Group Leaders & the Iona Presentation College staff will guide and support the students throughout camp, encouraging them to embrace the challenges. They will also be encouraged to get to know students outside of their cliques, look out for each other and build functional communities in the smaller groups they will be placed in for camp. The introductory activities on camp are listed below. The OEG “Explore, Reflect, Wonder” model will underpin this camp experience and students will be encouraged to transfer what they have learnt on camp back to school & home.

Our many initiatives can be large or small group activities on the land or water, encouraging social connection, negotiation, problem-solving and adaptability, all while having fun!
Rock Climbing
Rock Climbing
Rock climbing on a climbing wall or up a rockface invites students to set their own goals, step by step they develop confidence even if they don’t make it to the top in the beginning.
Cooking

For many, this is the first time they will be cooking and preparing their own meals. Some discover a new passion while developing healthy habits and self-belief.
