Newington Challenge - Myall Lakes
Director of Newington Challenge - Linda Munns
The Newington Challenge is an outdoor education program for Year 9 and 10 students. The program includes activities to teach camping, hiking, mountain biking, and paddling, as well as a semi-remote environment to expose students to healthy stress. Students learn teamwork, kindness, problem-solving, and self-awareness, with an emphasis on selfless actions and food-sharing. The program is designed for small groups of 14 students, with staff, instructors, and student leaders from year 11 and 12.
BushwalkingBe it a day's hike or a short walk to camp, bushwalking engages all our senses allowing us to explore nature and our place within it. And we always find something exciting along the way!
CampingCamping out in tents is our speciality! We love telling stories around the campfire, looking up at the night sky and creating memories that will last a lifetime!
CanoeingFollowing the flow of the river, we love to explore the waterways on our canoes. Working as a team, using our muscles and problem-solving together to reach our base for the night.
CyclingA favourite activity among our team, cycling along a windy track together or playing group games builds resilience and independence in young people.
Sea KayakingWe'll teach students safe paddle methods and techniques, turning, stopping and how to work together to gain some speed as we splash along the waterways.
