Santa Maria College Year 9 Adventure Learning - Camp 2
Santa Maria College
The Year 9 Camp extends the students beyond their experience with us in Year 7. The activities are more challenging but are delivered in a supported and guided way by the OEG Group Leaders and the Santa Maria staff member with each smaller group. There is opportunity for leadership and independence with students being offered a great deal of autonomy. The whole experience is underpinned by the OEG model of “Explore, Reflect, Wonder”.
AbseilingDescending a rock face or a climbing tower, we love the views from the top and the courage we see as students aim for their personal best and encourage one another.
BushwalkingBe it a day's hike or a short walk to camp, bushwalking engages all our senses allowing us to explore nature and our place within it. And we always find something exciting along the way!
CampingCamping out in tents is our speciality! We love telling stories around the campfire, looking up at the night sky and creating memories that will last a lifetime!
CavingCaving stirs adventure and excitement, allowing us to overcome new obstacles together through an inspiring new world and a fresh perspective.
High RopesOur high ropes course delivers an exciting challenge with students setting their own goals and developing confidence, determination and decision-making skills.
InitiativesOur many initiatives can be large or small group activities on the land or water, encouraging social connection, negotiation, problem-solving and adaptability, all while having fun!
Low RopesLow ropes is the perfect warm-up for the day, with fun obsticals promoting communication, teamwork, decision-making and coordination.
SwimmingSometimes we like to get in the water too! At shallow depths, we like to explore riverbanks, lakes and oceans. Swimming improves essential skills such as balance, posture, coordination and concentration.
CookingFor many, this is the first time they will be cooking and preparing their own meals. Some discover a new passion while developing healthy habits and self-belief.
Personal Reflection Time
